Andalucia here we come ... blast off in one week. It's our 26th Anniversary.

We've been blessed with enough funds for another journey.

We've been to Gibraltar, Morocco, Portugal and in Spain we covered Cordoba and Granada. So studying for this trip is bringing back wonderful memories as we head back to Spain. We've been following a "new country" rule, but now that I hit my 30 countries goal, we are allowing ourselves to re-visit because Seville was always on the list - but we just never made it.

Cadiz is the oldest inhabited city in Europe, founded by a Phoenician (in 1100 BC). For some reason I am mesmerized by the Moors and their contributions of the arts and sciences to a Europe that was still in the muddy roads stage and "not one streetlamp in London." The Moors established open libraries for all and founded 17 universities in the Andelusian area of Spain. In the time of the Moors, Christians, Jews and Muslims lived and worked harmoniously and thrived. Until, that is, Queen Isabella and Ferdinand married and brutally kicked them out....and anyone who wasn't Catholic (the Inquisition followed.) But the beautiful and beneficial arts, architecture, gardens, sewage systems and foods were imprinted into the region. I am especially looking forward to a Moorish castle called the Alcazar (since I missed the Alhambra in Granada).

2014 Seville, Cadiz, Leiden, NL 26th Anniversary

As mentioned  earlier, I learned I needed to upgrade my technology
Pic of the box & I'm typing on it now. No more cyber cafes for me.
